Harry is determined to explore the newly designated suspension room, which he dubs "the dungeon." An opportunity presents itself when classmate Song Lee inadvertently ignores the teacher's instructions concerning a class butterfly project. Harry takes the blame, and his plan to get suspended is put into motion. When things go awry, it's up to his friend Doug, who narrates the tale, to save him from a horrible disaster. The humorous conclusion complements the book's more serious themes, such as loyalty and responsibility. Kline's characters are likable, yet realistic second graders. About the Author
Suzy Kline, the author of nineteen previous Horrible Harry books and four books about Song Lee, lives in Willington Connecticut with her husband, Rufus. Suzy and Rufus have been married for thirty-eight years. They met in the state where they both grew up: California. Suzy grew up in Berkeley and Rufus in Sacramento. Suzy graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in European history. She met Rufus at the Davis campus while attending that campus for a year. They got married and lived in different places, including Canada, before settling into Connecticut, the state they now call home.
Suzy taught in 5th and 6th grades at Shannon Elementary School in Richmond, California for 3 years, and 2nd and 3rd grades at Southwest Elementary School in Torrington, Connecticut for 24 years before retiring this past June. She now enjoys writing full-time and visiting schools and libraries. The couple share their home with two cats, Teeter and Hoag. They have two daughters, Jennifer and Emily, and four grandchildren: Jake, Kenna, Gabby and Saylor. A fifth grandchild is due in September, 2006. Suzy's mother just turned 96. She dedicated her most recent book, Horrible Harry Takes the Cake to her.
Suzy and Rufus enjoy attending UConn football and basketball games, and Suzy uses the UConn library as a reference for her writing facts.

This Book's a Hit in My Home!

My second grade son loved this book. He was riveted by the plot and liked the science and math references. Now I'm going to find more Horrible Harry books.

Horrible Harry and the Dungeon is a story that gives a realistic view of young children. In this story Harry, like most children his age, lets his imagination run wild. The principal has instituted a detention room for children who do not follow the rules. Harry and his buddy have decided that the detention room must be a dungeon. When presented with an opportunity to visit the dungeoun Harry can't resist. Horrible Harry allows the reader to follow as Harry learns a valuable lesson and has a change of heart. This is a great story for young children who will be able to relate to all the characters in Room B.

The story is about Harry trying to find out what is in Mr.Skooghammer's big black bag. I really admired this book because it was intense until it revealed the secret and because I really like Horrible Harry books. I recommend this book to people who like books that don't give the secret up until the end.
